We are extremely fortunate to have a Westside Barbell ATP (Athletic Training Platform) in our garage. It allows us to work on things we couldn’t normally work on.

The Athletic Training Platform™ (ATP) is a highly versatile strength machine that does not burden the athlete’s spine while training. Due to the placement of the belt around the waist, the ATP tractions the spine while training, allowing the user to carry more weight in workouts, from the hips down to the calves.

I’ve tried other machines that are supposed to to the same thing but they just don’t. If you have a chance to use one of these I’d highly recommend it.

We use them for squats, deadlifts, banded deadlifts, marches, and also for carries and even use it in combination with the SkiErg.

Today’s Workout:

A bunch of heavy triples, doubles, and singles on the ATP. I did banded deadlifts.

If you don’t have an ATP or bands you could always just do some heavy deadlifts. There are days I like to go into the gym and just dedicate to some lifting. No breathing, no strength endurance type work. Just working a single attribute. I have done this in the past with bench press, squats, overhead squats and cleans as well. Pick one and have some fun.

The workup I would recommend is:

3 reps @ 30% 1RM

3 reps @ 50% 1RM

3 reps @ 70% 1RM

2 reps @ 80% 1RM

2 reps @ 85% 1RM

2 reps @ 90% 1RM

Then, 3-5 heavy singles

Note about the training: Day to day entries will change. Some entires will be workouts I have done that day, some entries will be workouts that people I train did that day. Some entries will be my favorite all time workouts or something I saw on the internet that I thought would be good for you to experience. Remember that because of the changing nature of the entries these workouts are not meant to be prescriptive. For example they aren’t necessarily written down with the intention of you following them precisely. Rather, they are meant to collectively build a resource that you can learn from. Hopefully you can implement some of these ideas and workouts into your own training in order to better your fitness.

Also note that I won’t be posting at the same time every day. If I workout early then it might get posted early. If I workout late then it might get posted late. If I am in  different time zone then hell, I don’t know what time it will show up. Just a head’s up. That said, I will do my best to get them to you in a timely fashion. You have my word on that but remember I don’t have an army of internet monkeys at my beck and call. I am doing this on my own…
